The Policy provides a structured and regulatory procedure that should be followed when dealing with students with mental health difficulties that are impacting on others, academic performance, or academic progress.
The Guide offers practical assistance to academic colleagues who may encounter a mentally ill student. The content may prove useful to other colleagues – such as Hall Tutors or administrative staff – who may unexpectedly find themselves supporting a student with mental health difficulties. It should be read in conjunction with the University Policy on Student Mental Health and the accompanying Regulation on Suspension or Exclusion on the Grounds of Health, Safety or Welfare.
