A Thermo-Finnigan, high resolution, single collector, rapid scanning magnetic-sector, inductively coupled mass-spectrometer. This instrument is used in solution mode (with the option of an ammonia gas input for boron concentration measurements) and in conjunction with the Excimer laser.

This instrument is commonly used to provide trace element analyses to support the charaterisation of samples analysed for isotopes, but has been used for accessory mineral dating by the U-Pb technique and can be employed to provide a highly sensitive check on sample clenliness for isotopic analysis.
