Learning Facilities Management
Learning Facilities Management (LFM) are part of Campus Division, Campus Planning and Property. LFM oversee all standard (non-specialist) Central Teaching Spaces across the University. We are responsible for the upkeep and upgrades of these teaching rooms, including the installation of AV equipment (The Teaching Learning & Collaboration team are responsible for day to day running of AV in teaching spaces), decoration, and furniture. We work closely with the Timetabling Department enabling us to set the rooms to the correct capacities and styles. University space is categorised as either Central Teaching Space or Specialist Space. The distinction is generally as follows:
Central Teaching Space (lecture theatres, seminar, and tutorial rooms etc.)
Specialist Space (all other spaces, specialist teaching rooms (labs and computer labs etc.) and all non-teaching rooms.)
Non-teaching requests for LFM managed rooms (for example meetings and conferences), should be requested via the University's Web Room Booking system (managed by the Timetabling Office - Academic Registry). Please ensure that if you intend to have catering, you check the correct option. Web Room Bookings is for staff use only, and should not be used to book rooms for students. Student Groups should contact LFM for bookings.
LFM cannot process any teaching requests (anything associated with a unit code.) An operational Timetabling Office is in place. All timetabled activities must be entered onto the University wide Syllabus Plus database by your local Faculty Education Officer.
Bookings that are not associated with teaching but would benefit from being displayed on a student/staff timetable (ie. regular research seminars) should be discussed with your Faculty Education Officer. Student Group requests for LFM managed rooms should be made via the online booking request form. Student Groups are welcome to request to use these rooms should the Student Union be unable to accommodate them.
General student requests (non-group related) should be directed via their local school office.
External requests, including those that involve members of the University, will be directed to the University Conference Office.
