How to publicise your work
There are a number of ways in which we can help you promote your work.
News of interest to an external audience is written up by the Media team as a short press release (two pages maximum). Some releases are only issued to local media, others to national, international and specialist media.
If you would like us to issue a press release about your work, please contact the Media team. It is important that you notify us before your paper is published online.
If an external body (eg a funding council or academic journal) is issuing a press release on your work, please inform the Media team as soon as possible before the release is issued. This will help us deal promptly and efficiently with any enquiries from journalists arising from the release.
If you would like your story to just appear as a news item on the University website, then contact our publications team by emailing your request to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If a news story is issued as a press release, it will also appear on the University homepage as a 'latest news' story.
Events listing and advertising
Research news contain articles on current research projects and recently published books.
Articles are generally 500-1,000 words long. Some are written by academic staff or postgraduate students; others are the result of interviews with academics about their work or shorter versions of conference papers.

Directory of Experts
The Directory of Experts contains details of academic staff who are willing to speak to the media as authorities on particular subjects. It has also proved a useful tool for other academics, both at Bristol and in other institutions, looking for collaborators.
