The School of Biological Sciences accommodates a diverse community of experts with research activities covering almost all fields of biology from the molecular biology of plants to bird behaviour and restoration ecology. In the 2001 RAE, the School achieved a top research rating of 5A and its internationally recognised research programmes are supported by grants and contracts from research councils, government, the EU, charities and commercial organisations.
