Introduction

Goldney Hall is a self-catered residence located on the edge of Clifton Village within easy access to local supermarkets and shops, and just a 15 minute walk away from the University precinct.

The hub of the Hall is the 18th century Goldney House which was purchased by the University in 1956. The modern student accommodation was built in 1969 within the Hall’s beautiful historic grounds.

Living at Goldney Hall

Goldney Hall is always in great demand having built up a reputation as a supportive, responsible, diverse and happy community. Residents leave Goldney with great memories and lifelong friendships. The Hall's location and environment are superb, and there is an ethos of helpfulness and respect amongst residents and staff alike that all incoming residents are expected to uphold and pass on.

Throughout the year the Junior Common Room (JCR) Committee strives to ensure a wide range of enjoyable and interesting events such as band, comedy, open mic, quiz and film nights, as well as Christmas and Easter formals, charity events and Goldneyversity challenge. Such events take place in the welcoming Goldney student Bar (which also has a free pool table, board games, and chill-out spaces) or the lovely Orangery. At least one major play is produced per year, and sometimes there are trips out to paintballing, ice skating, etc. The extensive tranquil gardens can be used for relaxing and revising.

Living in Goldney is an enjoyable and vibrant experience, but please note that unreasonable noise, persistent mess, and excessive drinking in the flats are not acceptable.

Accommodation

The Hall accommodates 269 residents within 11 blocks with a total of 36 mixed, self-catered flats, each with a communal kitchen. 32 flats offer 245 rooms with washbasin, each flat contains between six and eight rooms and has shared bath/shower room facilities. Four flats offer 24 en suite rooms, each of these flats contain six rooms. Residents with a disability or health need will be given priority in the allocation of en suite rooms. The reading room, computer room and launderette are located within the student accommodation. The Bar, Common Room, Library/Music Room, as well as the Accommodation Manager and Student Support Administrator's offices, and also the Warden and Deputy Warden’s flats, are situated within Goldney House.

Residents have access to tennis/netball courts within the grounds and a nearby squash court.
