School Senior Tutor

Has oversight of the personal tutor system for the BVSc VNBS and ABWS programmes and the School’s non-academic tutors. The Senior Tutor is responsible for the training and support of personal tutors within the School. The Senior Tutor is the School’s single point of contact for the Faculty and University. As an MRCVS the Senior Tutor is also the single point of contact for external accreditors such as Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).  The School Senior Tutor sits on the University’s Senior Tutor Group and is responsible for organising and presenting student feedback on the personal tutor system to the School’s APR for all three programmes. The Senior Tutor chairs the school’s extenuating circumstances committees.

BVSc Clinical Dean (Clinical Senior Tutor)

Responsible for the pastoral care of 350 clinical veterinary students on the 3rd 4th and 5th year of the BVSc veterinary science programme. The Clinical Senior Tutor sits on the University’s Senior Tutor group.

BVSc Preclinical Dean (Pre-clinical Senior Tutor)

Responsible for the pastoral care of 240 pre-clinical veterinary students on the 1st and 2nd year of the BVSc veterinary science programme. The pre-clinical Senior Tutor organises training and support of the pre-clinical tutors and sits on the University’s Senior Tutor group.

VNBS Undergraduate Dean

The VNBS Dean is a qualified Veterinary Nurse and is responsible for the pastoral care of 80 veterinary nursing students. VNBS students are registered with the RCVS and the VNBS Dean advises students on their professional progress and behaviour throughout the course which includes a placement year.

ABWS

The School Senior Tutor has oversight of 10 personal tutors who are responsible for the pastoral care of approximately 50 ABWS undergraduates

Non Academic Tutors

Non academic tutors are available for advice and support to the students from all three undergraduate programmes.
