Unit & Programme Management System Home Page

The Unit & Programme Management System (UPMS) is used for creating new and editing existing units and programmes. The System is the primary way for Schools to manage unit availability in SITS and programme and unit information that is published in the Programme and Unit Catalogue.  It is essential to ensure that the information held here is kept up-to-date as it is also used to inform many other systems, including Syllabus+, Hobsons and online unit registration.

For further information on the approval process in general please see our Programme and Unit Approval Guidance.

Log-in to the Unit & Programme Management System.

Faculty level reports on unit and programme data in the UPMS are now available. You will be able to the drill down to school and/or department level and interrogate the data. See notes on Unit & Programme Management System Reporting in Business Objects.

Unit Key Information Set Data

The UPMS holds unit data that is used in the University's Key Information Set (KIS) submission. The data related to Methods of Assessment and Methods of Teaching and Student Input is held electronically within the unit specification forms in the Unit & Programme Management System. The data is entered and can be edited within the UPMS,  but it is not published in the publicly available catalogue. The data is used to calculate and publish the KIS for each undergraduate programme.

Please see the Guidance on inputting KIS data (PDF, 695kB) for step-by-step details on how to do this using the UPMS.

Training

If after reading the guidance and the documentation above, you are still having problems using the UPMS, please contact approval-help@bris.ac.uk. It may be possible to arrange some one-to-one help and deal with specific issues.
