Contextual Intelligence with Wearable Cameras: Enhancing Human Understanding
Dr Shawn Shen, School of Computer Science
Psychology Common Room, Social Sciences Complex, Priory Road
Wearable cameras, combined with contextual intelligence, transform passive recording into active assistance. By integrating computer vision, temporal modeling, and multi-modal analysis, these systems understand and predict human behaviour and environmental changes in real time. They can serve as memory aids, enhance situational awareness, and support healthcare applications by detecting disorientation or emotional cues. In creative domains, they enable automatic summarization of long video streams into personalized, engaging content. While challenges like privacy and efficiency remain, contextual intelligence in wearable cameras has the potential to redefine human-AI interaction, seamlessly augmenting daily life and empowering users in profound ways.
