When MyBristol is closing

We will close MyBristol to all users on 31 July 2024.

We originally planned to close the service on 1 September 2023 but we're keeping it open for longer while we decide on a different way to access some of the key services MyBristol points to, such as your personalised timetable.

Where you can find things after MyBristol has closed

Almost everything you can do on MyBristol can already be accessed from the bristol.ac.uk/students website, including:

If you're a member of staff, you'll find almost everything you need linked from the bristol.ac.uk/staff site or the staff intranet including key systems such as:

  • Blackboard
  • eVision
  • My Students
  • Pure
  • MyERP
  • Desk booking
  • Office 365 apps like Word, Excel, Powerpoint and OneDrive

We’ll be making some changes to the website over the coming months to make it easier and quicker to get to or search for the things you need.

Keep checking back on this page for more updates.

You can also download the University of Bristol app (Google play | App store) which also allows you to see your personalised timetable.

What should I do before MyBristol closes?

Before it closes, users of MyBristol should take some time to do the following things:

  • Use the links above to see the alternative ways of getting to the same information that MyBristol shows you
  • Create a bookmark or favourite in your preferred browser for new links you haven't used before so you can get back to them easily in future
  • Report any problems or errors you experience to the IT Service Desk, who will be happy to help you solve the problem

About MyBristol

MyBristol is a portal which gives you access to some university services such as email, calendar and Blackboard and provides one way to see information like exam results, marks and student fees.

Much of its content is already accessible from other places and you don’t need to go through MyBristol to get to it.

Why MyBristol is closing

  • You've told us you want to use fewer systems to do the things you need to do and you want clearer ways to find information.
  • We also know that the way you engage with our digital services has changed since the portal was first launched, with the introduction of the University of Bristol app and improved content on the Current students section of the website.
  • In the last staff communications survey, 70% of staff told us they never found MyBristol useful.
  • We know some of you still value the portal. However, it has not been updated for several years and some of its content, how it looks and some of the integrations into other systems are now out of date.
  • Use of MyBristol has declined significantly in the past few years, so it now only gets 40% of the hits it got in the 2017/18 academic year when usage was at its peak.

Because of this, we have decided to divert time and resources away from the service.

Only MyBristol is closing

Services which MyBristol links to - eVision, My Students and Student Info - are not closing. You can still access and use them as normal after 31 July 2024.

Services which are not currently available elsewhere

There are a handful of things which can only be accessed through MyBristol at the moment. We’re working on moving these, and will update this page with more information as work is completed.

Right now, we’re working on finding a different place for the following services:

Personalised teaching timetable

You can already see your own timetable in Outlook Calendar and in the University of Bristol app, but these can be slow to update and we know that many of you use MyBristol specifically to see your timetable.

We’re working on moving this to a different location.

See someone else’s timetable (impersonate user function)

MyBristol allows you to see someone else’s personal teaching timetable which we know is useful for staff members when planning meetings with students.

As with the timetable widget, we’re working on moving this functionality elsewhere.

View your printer credits

MyBristol is one of two places where you can see how much money you have available for printing.

We’re working on finding a different place to hold this information.

You can already check your credit amount by logging into your account on any printer. You can make a payment via the online payment system.
