Reparative Futures privacy notice
Reparative Futures is a University of Bristol programme that aims, through a series of targeted initiatives, to redress some of the systemic injustices arising from the transatlantic trafficking of enslaved African people.
This statement sets out how the Reparative Futures Programme, including the Mobilisation Project phase, uses the personal information we collect from you. We may make changes to this policy so check from time to time for any updates.
Types of personal data processed may include:
- Name
- Contact details
- Organisation
- Dietary requirements (event registrations)
- Access requirements (event registrations).
We will only collect your data from the following:
- Printed out mailing list sign up forms
- Ticket Tailor and other ways of registering for one of our events
- Requests to receive information or join the mailing list received at reparative-futures@bristol.ac.uk
- From funding enquiries and applications.
How we use the data we collect from you
- We will not share your data with anyone outside of Reparative Futures and its governing bodies, unless required to do so by law.
- We will only add you to our mailing list if you have given your consent for us to do so. We may send you marketing or information where there is a legitimate interest to do so, for example, if you have an existing relationship with us such as having attended an event previously. In some circumstances, such processing does not require opt-in consent but your right to object remains, you can do this by contacting us with the contact details given at the end.
- We will use the details we collect to keep you informed about our news, events, training, funding opportunities and other events and opportunities we think you might find interesting.
- We may contact you about our events that you have signed up to, for example on Ticket Tailor.
Record retention
- We will keep your contact details for mailings and project updates until you unsubscribe.
- Other event registration information will be kept while needed for event organisation, reference and future planning, typically no longer than six months following the event date.
- Once we have received your information, we will use appropriate procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.
Third party software tools
Third party services collect certain technical information from your device including standard internet log information i.e. Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, and page interaction information.
We use a third-party provider, Ticket Tailor, to manage registration for and communications around our events. See Ticket Tailor privacy policy.
Your rights
- You have a right to withdraw your consent to be on our mailing list at any time by emailing reparative-futures@bristol.ac.uk.
- You have the right to have inaccurate data corrected. Let us know if your data is inaccurate by emailing reparative-futures@bristol.ac.uk.
- You have the right to access information held about you. Email reparative-futures@bristol.ac.uk if you would like to request this.
