The molecular cues that initiate and maintain immune cells within the eye, and alter the homeostatic balance of tissue immunosurveillance are still unclear. Research to define these mechanisms, that cause innate and adaptive immune cells to infiltrate and become resident within the eye, are important for human eye diseases including Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Diabetic Retinopathy and non-infectious intraocular inflammation (Uveitis).
