Neurovascular and Neuro-inflammatory disease
The eye shares the same blood supply as the brain. Therefore, many neurovascular and neuro-inflammatory diseases also affect the eyes and vision. We collaborate with Institute of Clinical Neurosciences, Stroke Research Group, Bristol Renal and Multiple Sclerosis and Stem Cell group to investigate how diseases such as stroke, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and COVID-19 affect vision.
Current projects:
1. NIHR Hemianopia Activity-Based InTervention study (HABIT)
2. Visual outcomes of patients attending an orthoptic led stroke clinic
3. Elizabeth Blackwell Institute: Visualising vasculopathy in COVID-19 (VisVasc) study
4. The endothelial glycocalyx and diabetic eye disease
5. Assessment of bone marrow-derived Cellular Therapy In progressive MUltiple Sclerosis (ACTiMuS) trial
