Books & Journals

Our reading rooms contain a small reference library of books relating to archive collections that we hold, in addition to a range of published plays and several nineteenth and twentieth century periodicals on theatre. These books and journals are not for loan but can be used by researchers in the reading room. You can browse or search these titles in the University of Bristol Library catalogue by filtering ‘Held By Library’ to ‘Theatre Collection’.

The main University library has a much larger range of publications related to theatre, theatre history and live art which can be searched using the University Library Catalogue. If you are planning to visit our reading room to see archive materials and want to additionally request books or periodicals that are held off-site (i.e. location is listed as something other than ‘Theatre Collection’), please contact us in advance at theatre-collection@bristol.ac.uk.
