Departmental Climate Action Plans

Our Climate Action Plans (CAPs) initiative is one of the ways the University is reducing its carbon emissions, supporting schools and divisions to take action that will lead to the greatest carbon reduction and impact.

Departmental Climate Action Plans (CAPs) provide a structured process for schools and divisions to identify, prioritise and deliver climate action that supports the University Climate Action Plan (UCAP).

Working collaboratively with colleagues, each area reviews its activities, identifies opportunities to reduce emissions and embed sustainability, and develops a tailored action plan with clear priorities and responsibilities. Many areas form CAP committees, including leadership, academic and professional services staff, and students, to focus on the various themes within the plans.

The Sustainability Team provides guidance, resources and facilitation throughout the process. There are also resources available on the CAP SharePoint site

CAPs are reviewed regularly to monitor progress, share good practice and identify opportunities for collaboration, helping ensure climate action becomes embedded in everyday decision-making across the University.
