What to expect at your Politics and Modern Languages Joint Honours offer holder event

We have planned the day to provide you with a taste of studying your subject at Bristol as well as insights into making the most of student life here.

This event is for offer holders for the following courses:

  • Politics and French (BA)
  • Politics and German (BA)
  • Politics and Italian (BA)
  • Politics and Portuguese (BA)
  • Politics and Russian (BA)
  • Politics and Spanish (BA)

Registration 

9:45 am to 10 am

A warm welcome to the Department of Politics, where you will be greeted by our Academic staff and student ambassadors with the information you need for your day.  

Course Talk 

10 am to 10:30 am

You will be able to hear about how the course is taught and student experience in the school. You will also have a chance to network meet students who study course, our academics and other prospective students. 

Comfort Break 

10:30 am to 10:45 am

A short comfort break between sessions. 

Taster Lecture and Q and A 

10:45 am to 11:30 am

You will experience a taster lecture demonstrating the teaching and research taking place at the University of Bristol. There will be time for questions following this. 

Networking Activity  

11:30 am to 12 noon

Meet our staff, students and other prospective students in a final networking session. This is a chance to ask any remaining questions before you depart. 

Break 

12 noon to 1:30 pm

You have some time to take a break and make your way to the second part of your day. 

Registration  

1:30 pm to 1:45 pm

A warm welcome to the School of Modern Languages, where you will meet our staff and find your session locations for the day. 

School of Modern Languages Welcome Talk 

1:45 pm to 2:15 pm

You will have the chance to attend a School-wide talk at which you will hear about how our language programmes work and about the learning environment of the School. This talk will also give you information about the year abroad that takes place over the course of study. 

Departmental Taster Sessions 

2:25 pm to 3:25 pm

You will have the chance to attend a taster session with the language department for which you have received an offer. Locations of these talks will be given to you when you register for the event.

Networking Activity 

1:30 pm to 4 pm

Meet our staff and current students, and ask any questions you have about life and study at the University of Bristol.  

Registration  

1:30 pm to 1:45 pm

School of Modern Languages Welcome Talk 

1:45 pm to 2:15 pm

Transition time 

2:15 pm to 2:45 pm 

Student ambassadors will guide you from your final session with Modern Languages to your first session with Politics.
