What to expect at your Politics and Modern Languages Joint Honours offer holder event

We have planned the day to provide you with a taste of studying your subject at Bristol as well as insights into making the most of student life here.

This event is for offer holders for the following course:

  • Politics and Modern Languages (BA)

If you are a Joint Honours student, you may attend Single Honours offer holder events for each part of your degree if you are unable to attend the Joint Honours event on this date. 

Please book one subject from your Joint Honours degree using the booking form. If you would like to attend an event for the second subject on a different date, contact on visit-us@bristol.ac.uk +44 (0)117 394 1649 and the team will help arrange this for you.

9:45 am - 10 am 

Politics Registration 

A warm welcome to the Department of Politics, where you will be greeted by our Academic staff and student ambassadors with the information you need for your day.

10 am - 10:30 am

Course Talk

You will be able to hear about how the course is taught and student experience in the school. You will also have a chance to network meet students who study course, our academics and other prospective students.

10:30 am - 10:45 am

Comfort Break

A short comfort break between sessions.

10:45 am - 11:30 am

Taster Lecture and Q&A 

You will experience a taster lecture demonstrating the teaching and research taking place at the University of Bristol. There will be time for questions following this.

11:30 am - 12 pm

Networking Activity

Meet our staff, students and other prospective students in a final networking session. This is a chance to ask any remaining questions before you depart.

You will have time here to have a break and then make your way over to the next part of your day.

1:30 am - 1:45 pm

Modern Languages Registration

A warm welcome to the School of Modern Languages, where you will meet our staff and find your session locations for the day.

1:45 pm - 2:15 pm

School of Modern Languages Welcome Talk

You will have the chance to attend a School-wide talk at which you will hear about how our language programmes work and about the learning environment of the School. This talk will also give you information about the year abroad that takes place over the course of study.

2:25 pm - 3:25 pm

Departmental Taster Sessions

To help you choose the language you wish to study at Bristol, you may attend two departmental taster seminars of your choice. The options are French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German and Russian.

Locations of these talks will be given to you when you register for the event.

3:30 pm - 4 pm

Networking Activity

Meet our staff and current students, and ask any questions you have about life and study at the University of Bristol.

You will be escorted to your next part of the day by our ambassadors. 

3 pm - 3:25 pm

Departmental Talks 

To help you choose the language you wish to study at Bristol, you have the opportunity to attend a taster seminar of your choice. The options are French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German and Russian. The locations of these seminars will be given to you when you arrive at the School of Modern Languages.

3:30 pm - 4 pm
