Course summary
Our joint honours BA Film and English degree combines the study of Film and Television with English.
You'll learn the history of film and television, guided by leading scholars and practitioners. You'll also explore theory, understand how films are made and get hands-on with creative filmmaking projects.
Throughout your studies, you'll learn from a range of film and television professionals. In your final year, you'll have the chance to undertake a placement in the creative industries. It's a valuable opportunity to build experience and make connections.
For the English part of your course, you'll study a wide range of literature written in English, from the medieval period to the present day. This will include the close, analytical study of poetry, fiction and drama, as well as critical and theoretical approaches to studying literature.
In your second and third years, you'll choose from a range of stimulating options and research-led special subjects, including creative writing.
In your third year, you'll have the opportunity to write a dissertation on a topic that excites you, bringing together everything you've learned.
