Biology is at the centre of some of today's most pressing challenges. It offers exciting opportunities to shape a sustainable future, studying topics from climate change to food security, and from biodiversity to emerging diseases. Biologists play a crucial role in understanding and mitigating the impacts of these challenges on ecosystems and the sustainability of life on Earth.

Our BSc Biology with Professional Placement degree will expose you to the breadth and depth of biological sciences, from genes to ecosystems. You'll build fundamental knowledge about the diversity, evolution and functions of living organisms, and you'll learn precisely how animals, plants, and microbes interact.

This four-year course is an expansion of BSc Biology, allowing you to spend your third year gaining experience in industry. Placement opportunities are based on first-year examination results and a successful application to a participating employer. It's a student-led process, but you won't be doing it alone. Our expert team will support you throughout your placement. You'll receive invaluable mentoring and training to help you develop professional skills and make the most of this unique opportunity.

Access to HE Diploma in Science, Biomedical/Medical/Health Science or Psychology (or similar titles). The 45 graded Level 3 credits must include: at least 21 credits at Distinction and 24 at Merit or above; and at least 12 credits (with 9 at Distinction) from units in one science and at least 12 credits (with 9 at Distinction) from units in another science

Requirements are as for A-levels, where you can substitute a non-subject specific grade for the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales or the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate at that grade.
Requirements for principal subjects are as for A-level, where D1/D2 is A*, D3 is A, M1/M2 is B, and M3 is C.
