Talks delivered in your school
- A range of Information, Advice and Guidance talks for KS5 students thinking of going to universityLed by a trained Student Ambassador who is currently studying at the University of Bristol, these assembly-style presentations last between 15 and 45 minutes and are suitable for whole classes or year groups. Talks for 2025/26 include: Why choose the University of Bristol?; What are the Russell Group and how to apply to these institutions; Preparing for university; Writing a personal statement; Applying for Medicine, Vet Science, and Dentistry; The UCAS application process; Student life and the student experience at Bristol; Choosing a course and a university; and Applying to competitive universities. These workshops are best suited to Year 12 students or to Year 13s when delivered in the first-half of the Autumn term. (Available for in-person or virtual delivery).
- A range of tailored talks delivered by WP staff for KS5 students from underrepresented backgroundsOur team of Widening Participation Officers provide a range of presentations as well as personalised workshops designed for cohorts in Year 12 and 13. These talks aim to increase awareness of the support available for underrepresented students at university, including information on our inclusive admissions policies, admissions-benefit outreach programmes for post-16 students, and the range of support available to students before, during and after applying to university. Tailored to the needs of your cohort, these workshops last between 30 and 60 minutes are ideal for medium-large sized groups. (Available for in-person or virtual delivery)
Online webinars
- 'Gold Workshop' subject insight sessions delivered by current UoB ambassadors (webinar)We invite your students to learn more about what studying certain subjects might be like at the University of Bristol. Your students will hear directly from our trained student ambassadors all about their experiences of studying a particular subject at the University of Bristol, and the potential career pathways this may lead to. We particularly encourage students of colour and students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to learn more about our Faculties of Arts, Life Sciences, and Science. Webinars will be hosted on MS Teams and will run in November. Please invite your students to visit our Events and school visits webpage to register their interest.
- Support for Widening Participation students - Belonging Together webinarThis online webinar for your KS5 students outlines the support available for students whilst applying, transitioning to and having arrived at University. The next event takes place on 14th October and students should sign up using the link above.
Support for Care Experienced students at the University of Bristol (webinar)
Our Widening Participation Officers run an online webinar for your KS5 students outlining the support available for Care Experienced students prior to, during, and after applying to study at the University of Bristol. Registration details will be added in due course - please check back soon.
Other opportunities for Schools and Colleges
- Attendance at your KS5 HE/Careers FairTrained Student Ambassadors who are currently studying at the University of Bristol can attend your events, and offer advice and ideas about studying at the University. Our Ambassadors can share anecdotes about their time at Bristol, advise on grade and subject requirements for different courses and give an insight into the application process. (Available for in-person or virtual delivery).
- Contextual offersOur contextual offer is a grade reduction of up to two grades below the standard entry requirements and is made to those from backgrounds who, historically, are less likely to study at Bristol. This scheme can be used in conjunction with our guaranteed offer scheme. See our contextual offers webpage for more details, including eligibility criteria.
- Guaranteed offers/ interviewsAt Bristol, we’re committed to supporting local students, students eligible to receive Free School Meals, and learners returning to study with Access to HE courses by providing guaranteed offers and guaranteed interviews (where applicable). - University of Bristol outreach activities with admissions benefitsAt Bristol, we offer a range of outreach initiatives to support students in their learning and aspirations. These include a range of virtual and in-person programmes, such as Access to Bristol, Discover Bristol, Bristol Scholars, Next Step Bristol, Insight into Bristol Summer School, and our Virtual Summer School.
