What is Bristol Run Series?
Bristol Run Series is a series of in-person and virtual events created with the goal of helping people on their exercise journey. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned runner, we would love to have you join the Bristol Run Series community.
Our slogan this year is 'do it your way', as you can personalise the programme to make it work for you.
- You can walk, jog or run your distances. However you take part, we'll be there to cheer you on.
- Join a pathway and access free training plans to help you increase your distance, or pick and choose events you want to take part in.
- You can join us for in-person events throughout the year, take part virtually, or do a mix of both.
How to take part
Choose your challenge and sign up:
- Pathway 1 - From zero to 10K
- Pathway 2 - From 5K to half marathon
- Pathway 3 - From 10K to marathon
If you just fancy signing up to participate in individual events you can do that too - there’s no need to follow a specific pathway.
Shaping the Series
We would like to give a huge thank you to everyone who shared feedback with us last year. You have played a big role in shaping Bristol Run Series for 2026/27.
Below are just a few examples of how we've listened to feedback to develop the programme for 2026/27.
- We have introduced wristbands so that Bristol Run Series participants can identify each other at events. To collect your wristband, email sports-events@bristol.ac.uk.
- We have extended virtual windows to give you more time to complete your distances. In-person events that fall outside of the window can also be used as evidence.
- At miler training events, we will use pace ranges instead of finish times, as well as narrower wave bands.
- We will promote opportunities to volunteer at Bristol Run Series and partner events.
- We have refreshed the Support Hub and website to ensure they are easy to use and contain relevant information.
Sustainability
- ShoesSince the Summer of 2022, we have had a shoe donation point at the Indoor Sport Centre as part of our partnership with JogOn, who are an organisation aiming to remove 1 million running shoes from landfill. Head to the Indoor Sports Centre and drop off any old pairs of shoes. You can read more about where your trainers go and JogOn’s aim on their website.
- ClothingNot sure what to do with your old running clothes? Take a moment to read the Bristol Council's webpage to understand what clothing can be collected through your recycling. You can also learn some helpful tips to ensure your old clothes see a second life.
Healthy Minds
We're proud to support and promote the Healthy Minds programme, which supports students who face mental health difficulties.
