Testimonials from our students

Anna Loßmann, MA in Translation
“I chose Bristol for its excellent and enduring reputation, and because the fees were affordable.
“The online nature of the course was one of the main reasons for my choice. Living in a rural area, it would be impossible for me to physically attend any kind of course […]! I was not apprehensive about it, but it did take some getting used to. The Blackboard concept is excellent and has not failed me once. The benefit of a virtual learning environment is that you can check in anytime from anywhere. Catching up on feedback late at night or sitting on a train makes everything a lot easier. It is also fun to see posts from people scattered all over Europe (and sometimes further afield). There are lots of references to local goings-on, and one gets a real feeling of belonging to a vibrant, multi-cultural group. I liked the mix of native and non-native English speakers. Not at any time did I feel that the latter were disadvantaged. And the Blackboard forum is a great place to swap ideas and feedback on each other’s work.
“I do feel that the online experience as a whole is helping prepare me for being a translator. One gets to see the results and benefits of networking first hand.
"Blackboard has proved to be an extremely effective learning platform. Each module is laid out in such a way that you have all the information you need at your fingertips. There are no frustrating searches. The external links and reading materials are all excellent.
“I have found it very easy to interact with fellow students and tutors using Blackboard and email. People tend to respond very quickly and, due to the group nature of the course, you are generally guaranteed at least two different viewpoints on any issue you might flag up, sometimes many more!
"The MA has certainly equipped me with theoretical and practical skills that will be invaluable in my future career."
