Investigating the Relationship Between Thermal Imaging and Viewer Engagement: A Study of Emotional Response and Content Immersion

What does the study involve?

You will be asked to watch an episode of a TV series while wearing a heart rate monitor. As you watch the episode, we will film you with a thermal and visible spectrum camera. Throughout the episode, we will also repeatedly ask you a pair of questions related to your engagement and dominant emotion experienced. Do not worry! The study is designed in a way to minimise any interference with your TV watching experience. The study will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and will take place at 1 Cathedral Square, Trinity St, College Green, Bristol BS1 5DD, Room 1.20 (1st floor — Subjective Testing and Immersive Suite). Participants will receive a £10 Love2Shop voucher in return for their time.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Must have normal or corrected-to-normal vision and hearing
  • Must not be wearing glasses (or must be able to watch TV without glasses)
  • Must not have facial hair (moustache or beard)
  • Must have English as their first language or have an equivalent level of fluency in it
  • Must not have seen Killing Eve TV series
