Self-regulation in children with and without Autism, Williams Syndrome and Down Syndrome: Parental perspectives

14 June 2024

We are looking for parents of children aged 5-13 to answer our 20-30 minute questionnaire on self-regulation. You will have a chance to win Amazon vouchers worth up to £100.

Right now we are just recruiting parents of typically developing children and children with Autism (please email us if the latter is you as the form is different and payment).

We have a questionnaire asking for parent’s ratings of their children’s abilities to self-regulate. It is designed to be inclusive, specifically considering the experiences of neurodiverse individuals. This study will involve a questionnaire containing 84 statements about regulation. You will be asked to what extent do you think this statement might be true about your child, over the past six months, compared to their peers? This will be on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being strongly disagree and 10 being strongly agree.

The information that we will gather from our study will add to our knowledge of children’s abilities to regulate themselves in a range of different situations for parents’ perspectives, including parents of children with Williams Syndrome, Down Syndrome and Autism. We would hope to publish our results in a scientific journal and report them at scientific meetings.

You should be able to complete this questionnaire in around 30 minutes. For your time you can enter a raffle with Amazon voucher prizes, there is: 10 x £10, 2 x £25, 1 x £50 and 1 x £100. Additionally, parents of neurodiverse children receive a £5 Amazon voucher for completing the questionnaire.

You CAN complete this study multiple times (once for each child) if you have multiple typically developing children aged 5 and 13 years old.
