Dissertation printing service
We can print and bind your dissertation.
Paper options
- printed on standard A4 90 gsm silk stock
- content that requires a larger A3 format (such as diagrams) can be accommodated by folding an A3 sheet to A4 size.
Preparing your dissertation for printing
- choose A4 page layout size
- allow a minimum right-hand margin of 20 mm
- save your dissertation as a PDF file.
Binding and finishing
If you decide not to use our printing service, we can bind a dissertation that you have printed in A4.
Choose from a comprehensive range of professional binding options. The University specification for submitted dissertations is hard binding; you can use soft binding, comb binding and wire binding for interim copies or personal copies.
Timeframes
- Soft binding pre-printed work: bound while you wait
- Comb and wire binding pre-printed work: four working hours
- Printing and binding: one working day
- Hardback binding: two working days.

Dissertation printing will be zero rated for VAT when placing your order on the student portal.

If you do not see the options you want on the portal, complete an ExternalRequestForm (Office document, 244kB) and email it, with your file, to print-services@bristol.ac.uk.
Collect your order
Collect your order from the Print Services Office.
