How to send parcels to Northern Ireland

The Windsor Framework (or Agreement) is a 2023 agreement between the UK and EU that amends the Northern Ireland Protocol to ease trade friction caused by Brexit. It introduced "green" and "red" lanes for goods moving from Great Britain to Northern Ireland (NI), reducing bureaucracy for goods staying in NI.

There is no need to undertake additional measures for the delivery of letters to Northern Ireland, however parcels (which will include bulky large letters) require additional consideration.

When sending parcels from the University to private individuals, additional measures are not necessary. However, when sending from the University to businesses, you will need to provide the EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) number for the recipient. Failure to supply this is likely to result in customs duty, VAT and customs administration charges, these may be passed back to the University (and therefore passed back to you), or could be passed to the recipient, depending upon the carrier used.  Please ensure the EORI for the recipient is provided with the item, along with the budget code.
