CEM 30th Anniversary Lecture series 'Communication and conflict in critical care'

Please join us for this lecture series celebrating 30 years of the Centre for Ethics in Medicine.

Our next speaker is Harleen Kaur Johal. NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow (CT3 Anaesthetics), University of Bristol, who will talk about "Communication and conflict in critical care".

Harleen is a resident doctor in anaesthetics in the Severn deanery and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bristol. She was awarded a National Institute for Health and Care Research Academic Clinical Fellowship in 2023.

Her doctoral and postdoctoral research has largely been based at the Centre for Ethics in Medicine, and has focused on the ethical and legal aspects of critical care, best interests decision-making, and addressing inequity in healthcare and academia. Harleen teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate settings and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

In addition to participating in clinical ethics advisory groups, she co-founded the Black and Brown in Bioethics initiative, which aims to centre and elevate under-represented perspectives in the field. She also serves as a member of the GMC Standards Guidance Advisory Forum and the BMJ Medical Humanities Editorial Board.
