Biography
Research interests
I am a Senior Lectuer in Spatial Data Science. Broadly speaking, I study how humans and machines represent, organize, and reason about spatial and temporal information to advance knowledge at the intersection of human, environmental, and AI systems. More specifically, I combine theory-informed approaches, drawing on geography, the social and environmental sciences, and human cognition, with data-driven methods, including machine learning, AI, and spatial statistics, to address geospatial challenges such as data interoperability, spatial prediction, and spatial reasoning. My work has been applied across a wide range of domains, including urban studies, public health, environmental modeling, and humanitarian relief.
My research topics include:
- GeoAI
- Geospatial knowledge graphs
- Geospatial semantics
- Geospatial foundation models
- Spatial Statsitics
- Spatially explicit machine learning
I am co-leading the Spatial Analysis and GeoAI (SAGE) research group at Bristol.
I am recruiting self-motivated talents to pursue PhD degree or postdoctoral study about any topics relevant to my research expertise/interest. There are multiple funding sources you could apply if you consider to study with me. Don't hesitate to keep in touch by sending your CV and proposal.
