Research interests
I'm a statistical epidemiologist with expertise in analysing observational data, including electronic health records. My research has generally focussed on health consequences of adverse childhood experiences (e.g. maltreatment or witnessing intimate partner violence) and risk-taking behaviours (e.g. substance misuse), and on diagnostic timeliness of cancer, particularly among adolescents and young adults.
I currently hold a Sir Henry Wellcome postdoctoral fellowship, supporting me to study patterns of social transitions during young adulthood (e.g. leaving the parental home, starting employment, parenthood) and how they affect health. This work involves several large UK and Finnish cohorts, and is being carried out in collaboration with researchers from Imperial College London, University College London, University of Glasgow, University of Oulu, and Penn State University.
