Biography
His research on the INFORM Programme advanced the understanding of patients’ and clinicians’ experiences of prosthetic infection, and as Chief Investigator of INFORM:EP he led the development and implementation of guidelines for the management of prosthetic infection (https://inform.bristol.ac.uk/). He is currently Chief Investigator of the INFORM-Well study (NIHR208734) which will develop psychoeducational support for people with prosthetic joint infection. He also leads work packages on world’s largest ever surgical trial, the NIHR-funded Hip Implant Prosthesis Programme for the Younger total hip replacement patient (HiPPY).
Andrew is Chair of the Bone and Joint Infection Society's Research Committee, Co-director of the Bristol Bone and Joints Health Integration Team and is a member of the Arthritis UK Research Expert Committee.

My research focuses on health services and the development, implementation and evaluation of health interventions.
My research interests include:

Teaching
I'm also a Case Based Learning facilitator, helping medical students to develop their knowledge and learning abilities. I lead teaching on the iBSc in Health Sciences course for intercalating medical students, aswell as supervising PhD, MD and MSc candidates. I'm always open to taking on doctoral students.
I have developed and delivered training in research methods for the University of Bristol 5-day Qualitative Research Methods Short Course, North Bristol NHS Trust, the HRA Frenchay Research Ethics Committee, and The Institute of Cancer Research, London.
