Children's Lives: International conference on children and their families using the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS)

The Bristol Poverty Institute (BPI) is delighted to announce it will be the co-host along with UNICEF and The New School (see also Equity for Children) a hybrid event entitled - Children’s Lives: International conference on children and their families using the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS).

The Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) programme was developed in the 1990s. Since then, six rounds have been completed, with the 7th round (2023-2026) ongoing. During this time, 118 countries have carried out over 350 surveys.  Microdata is available for the majority of surveys (see https://mics.unicef.org/surveys)UNICEF, in collaboration with the Graduate Program on International Affairs at the New School organized an international conference to promote the use of MICS data in 2004.  A selection of papers was published in Minujin et al (2006) Human Rights and Social Policies for Children and Women: The Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) in Practice, New York, New School.

Twenty years later, as the seventh round is underway, a new conference will be held in Autumn 2024. The conference is a collaboration among UNICEF, Bristol Poverty Institute (University of Bristol) and Equity for Children (The New School).
