What We’re Working On: an introduction into ARIA’s model and our focal research areas followed by Q&A

3 April 2024, 3.00 PM - 3 April 2024, 4.00 PM

online

Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) is a new Research and Development funding agency built to unlock scientific and technological breakthroughs that benefit everyone. Their focus is on high risk, high reward research that has long term impact and will fund projects across the full spectrum of R&D disciplines, approaches and institutions.

Opportunity Spaces

ARIA is currently structured around seven programmes, or ‘opportunity spaces’, each led by a Programme Director. The opportunity spaces are designed as an open invitation for researchers from across disciplines and institutions to learn and contribute to the development of ideas for funding opportunities. The seven opportunity spaces are:

  • Nature computes better – let’s catch up
  • Managing our climate and weather through responsible engineering
  • Precisely interfacing with the human brain at scale
  • Mathematics and modelling are the keys we need to unlock safe and transformative AI
  • Smart machines need smarter bodies
  • A new lens on climate measurement
  • Programmable plants: a technology platform for sustainable abundance

Further detail on each opportunity space can be found here - What we’re working on - Aria

This webinar will be led by: Pippy James, Director of Product and Programme Directors Gemma Bale (Scoping Our Planet), Angie Burnett (Programmable Plants) and Mark Symes (Future-proofing Our Climate)
