NIHR Mental Health Research Initiative: Mental Health Research Groups information webinar

Hosted by the National Institute for Health and Care Research

The NIHR is planning a significant new investment in mental health research in areas with high mental health burden and low research capacity. Mental Health Research Groups (MHRGs) will be led by higher educational institutions (HEIs) with limited or no current mental health research capacity, in partnership with HEIs with more experience and expertise in mental health research (UoB staff may wish to reach out in this capacity to other institutions). The role of the more experienced institution is to provide mentoring, training and additional mental health and applied research expertise to support and enable the MHRG to ultimately become self-sustaining.

Up to 10 Mental Health Research Groups (MHRGs) will be established via a new funding scheme, located in geographical areas in England with high mental health burden, limited local research capacity in mental health and low recruitment into mental health research studies.

The Research Brief and application forms will be available in mid-September.

NIHR is holding a webinar for potential applicants on Tuesday 10 October, 12:30 - 14:00, to introduce the awards and provide an opportunity to ask questions.
