Interactive NC3Rs workshop using the Experimental Design Assistant (EDA) tool for researchers at Bristol

11 May 2023, 10.00 AM - 11 May 2023, 12.45 PM

Ada Lovelace Building

A free workshop hosted by NC3Rs

Morning session

Dr Esther Pearl, NC3Rs Programme Manager for Experimental Design, will give a talk highlighting ways to strengthen experiments via good experimental design, followed by a live demonstration of the Experimental Design Assistant (EDA) tool; online software to help you design more robust in vivo experiments. Bring your laptop and build the demonstration EDA diagram along with Esther. The demonstration will cover creating an EDA diagram, getting feedback on the experimental design, how to generate a randomisation sequence, how to generate a PDF report summarising the experimental design and how to find the help that is built into the system. A break with refreshments will be provided!

Afternoon session (optional 1:1 support, 13.15-15.15)

Have you tried to use the EDA before and got stuck? Esther will be available from 13:15-15:15 to help you with problems you have encountered using the EDA (1:1 meetings will be held in the same room as the workshop).

Registration

Please note this workshop will only be relevant for those conducting animal research. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To register please email Jess Eddy, your NC3Rs Regional Programme Manager (jessica.eddy@nc3rs.org.uk) by Thursday 4 May. If you would like to arrange a 30 minute 1:1 session with Esther in the afternoon, please indicate this in your registration email.
