GW4 Mental Health Research Network online workshop

The GW4 Alliance is coordinating and setting up a GW4 Mental Health Research Network to connect investigators and explore new opportunities for collaboration across the GW4 universities (Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter).

We are holding an initial half-day online workshop on the afternoon of Friday 22nd September (with lunch and refreshment breaks).

There will be institutional overviews of mental health research being undertaken across the GW4 and parallel group discussions led by investigators on the following themes:

  • Neuroscience of Mental Health & Discovery Science
  • Young People’s Mental Health
  • Diagnostic Approaches to Mental Health
  • Social and Environmental Drivers of Mental Health and Illness

To be delivered by:

  • Prof Sarah Halligan, Dept. Psychology, University of Bath
  • Prof Matt Jones, School of Physiology, Pharmacology & Neuroscience, University of Bristol
  • Prof Jeremy Hall, Division of Psychiatry and Clinical Neuroscience, Cardiff University
  • Prof Jonathan Mill, Dept. Clinical and Biomedical Sciences, and Prof Ed Watkins, Dept. Psychology, University of Exeter

Followed by chaired breakout discussions (in parallel) covering four different themes (other themes/breakout rooms could be set up on the day if needed) where we will facilitate new conversations to help foster new ideas and potential new collaborative research communities plus opportunities for funding and further network activities.
