1st Digital Footprints Conference: Linking Digital Data for Health

11 May 2023, 10.00 AM - 11 May 2023, 5.00 PM

central Bristol

The conference is organised by Turing Special Interest Group (SIG) on Novel Data Linkages for Health and Wellbeing.

This event will showcase multidisciplinary research on digital footprints and bring together a multi sector audience – academics, policy-makers, government representatives, industry – to share insights and frameworks for working with digital footprints data. The speakers and panellists include Emma Gordon (Director for Administrative Data Research UK, ADR UK), Deborah Kroll (Head of Strategy and Partnership, Digital Footprints, ESRC), Claire Steves (King's College London, Clinical Director of TwinsUK and co-designer of the ZOE App), Tom Smith (Director Spatial Data Unit, Chief Data Officer, Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities) and others.

Call for contributions:

300-word abstracts for posters are requested, a limited number of which will be chosen as oral flash presentations. Abstracts will be accepted based on their quality and relevance to the conference theme; and included as part of Conference Proceedings published in the International Journal of Population Data Science. This conference theme is Linking Digital Data for Health. We welcome research projects from academics, industry, government departments and non-profit research organisations who are using digital footprints data. Digital footprints include:

  • Transactional records
  • Internet history records
  • Social media data
  • Geospatial/mobility data
  • Sensor records
  • Image data

We would particularly like to showcase research linking digital footprints with other datasets, such as cohort studies, observational surveys, educational, administrative data or health records to create opportunities and address important societal issues around health.
