The inaugural National Neuro Student Conference is taking place on 25 March 2023 online. 

Abstract submission:

 

  • Submit your abstract via the online form https://forms.gle/nmu7QqGXEmaG19MW8
  • Closing date 22 February 2023
  • Your abstracts will be reviewed and selected for either 5-minute oral presentation followed by 3-4 minutes of questions and answers or a poster presentation. Please indicate which categories you would like to submit. If the abstract is not selected for oral presentation, it will automatically be considered for poster presentation. Please note, you will only be allocated one of the two.
  • We will be considering all neuro-related abstracts i.e. neurology, neurosurgery or neuroscience. We accept a broad range for example, ranging from general neurology and neurosurgery to neuro-pathology, neuro-radiology or neuro-ophthalmology. (it can be any project/research that you have done during your time at medical school).
  • The abstract submitted will be reviewed by an expert panel.
  • Successful applicants will be notified via email in due course, and be required to produce a poster +/- oral presentation.

Instructions for abstract submission:

 

  • Structure:
    • Theme: The theme of the conference is ‘the future of neurology and neurosurgery’ however the abstract submitted can be in any field related to neurology, neurosurgery or neuroscience.
    • Abstracts should be in English
    • Word count: 
      • Abstract Title: No longer than 60 characters
      • Abstract Text: No longer than 250 words (title, authors and figure legends are not included in the ‘abstract text’ word count).
    • Please include the following sections in your abstract: Title, Authors, Introduction/Aim, Methods, Results and Discussion/Conclusions. Abbreviations should only be used if the term appears two or more times in the abstract.
    • Please do not include any patient-identifiable details - ensure anonymity and do not breach patient confidentiality.
  • Important notes
    • Please ensure only one presentation per author is submitted and must be your own work (or work in collaboration with a team).
    • All submissions run through an initial checking process. Any abstracts that do not meet these these requirements will be automatically rejected by the system. Abstracts are anonymised for scoring and review.
  • Closing date
    • The closing date for receipt of abstracts is 22nd February 2023 at 23.59. Abstracts received after this date will not be considered.
  • Grants, financial support and proprietary interest
    • These must be declared on the abstract provided. This can be included in the introduction section.
