An online sharing of our creative co-produced research pilot designed to improve access to dentistry for adult survivors of child sex abuse.
Join Dr Nilu Ahmed from Bristol Dental School and Viv Gordon CSA Survivor Artist Activist as they share early outcomes from the creative co-produced research pilot "Improving Access To Dentistry For Adult Survivors of Child Sex Abuse". Viv and Nilu have been working with a team of CSA survivor artists and activists alongside academics and clinicians at Bristol Dental School to explore barriers faced by survivors accessing oral health care. CSA survivors are more likely to have negative experiences of going to the dentist and poorer oral health compared to the general population. This study is working with survivors to articulate the barriers survivors face and identify ways in which the dental profession can improve to better serve patients with trauma.
They will share themes emerging from the research, extracts of creative writing by CSA survivor activists including Sophie Olson, Patricia Debney and Hazel Larkin and their co-produced poster for dentist waiting rooms.
