The benefits of social connections

A Workshop in Ecology and Behaviour seminar hosted by the School of Biological Sciences

In humans and many other animals, individuals that are well-connected to others live longer and have more offspring. Yet why social connections are linked to fitness is less clear, in part because this topic is challenging to study. In this talk, I will outline the hypothesized adaptive functions of social connections and will present research generated in my group that tests some of these ideas.
