Dr Sachs' research is in theoretical machine learning, with a particular emphasis on stochastic and online optimization, game-theoretic approaches to learning, and generalization guarantees for machine learning methods. She obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Amsterdam under the supervision of Tim van Erven, during which she had the opportunity to spend several research visits in France. After completing her doctorate, she spent a year as a postdoctoral researcher at Bocconi University in Milan before joining the University of Bristol.
