Prof. Bertola's area of research is integrable systems and asymptotic methods in general, with incursions in the area of algebraic geometry of moduli spaces, symplectic geometry, Riemann surfaces and potential theory.  His Royal society project  "Orthogonality, Riemann surfaces and asymptotics”  focuses  on the recently opened area of the theory of orthogonal functions on Riemann surfaces and their asymptotic behaviour.
