'Doctor Turners syrop for consumption feauer and cough: To make a syrop of snailes' from a recipe book probably collected or owned by Hester Pinney, 1658-1740, who lived for a time in London as a lace trader, and had links with George Booth, 1654-1726. The recipe book contains culinary and medical recipes from 1702-1728. Snail syrup was used against consumption, and as a cough medicine. DM2085. Deposited in July 2006, by a member of the Pinney family.
