Wellcome Trust Scholarship
The Wellcome Trust Scholarship is a scheme generously funded by the Wellcome Trust for students intending to commence an LLM in Health, Law and Society. Through the scheme, the University of Bristol aims to build an influential and diverse population of health researchers in the humanities and social sciences settings.
Purpose
The Wellcome trust scholarship was created to:
- Improve students’ understanding of health through the humanities or social sciences;
- Prepare students for a career in health-related humanities or social science research;
- Build an influential and diverse population of talented researchers.
What do you get?
If you are successful, your scholarship will provide:
- Payment of tuition fees at UK level;
- An annual stipend of £18,500;
- A research budget.
Eligibility
The scheme is open to students who pay UK fees. International fee-paying applicants are not eligible to apply for this scholarship scheme (details regarding postgraduate taught funding options for Law applicants can be found here).
To apply for the Wellcome scholarship: On submitting your application to the LLM programme in Health, Law, and Society applicants must email an additional personal statement as a Word document or PDF to hls-llm@bristol.ac.uk.
This statement should explain in no more than 500 words:
- How the LLM in Health, Law, and Society fits the applicant's career plans and ambitions; and
- How the degree will help the applicant contribute to Wellcome’s aims with the funding scheme (as listed above).
Selection criteria
Selection criteria will account for applicants’ academic excellence, the aims of the degree programme, and the aims of the Wellcome Trust with this scholarship scheme.
