Press release issued: 10 February 2021
The Law School is pleased to announce it is now a member of the Black Solicitors Network (BSN), aiming to increase the accessibility of events, opportunities and mentoring offered by the BSN to the black and minority ethnic student community.
As a Corporate Member of BSN, the University of Bristol Law School will be actively and publicly contributing towards the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda. The BSN strives to ensure that the initiatives and services they offer remain accessible to those who need them most.
BSN student member, LLB law student and President of the University of Bristol Bar Society, Isaac Chambers commented:
"After writing a Black Lives Matter open letter to the University of Bristol over the summer, I am incredibly proud to be part of a University that is at the forefront of enacting much needed progressive policies that are made to benefit the wider student community at Bristol, especially Black students."
"I have been a committee member of Black Solicitors Network (BSN) since 2019, and I have seen the effect it has in combating racial inequality within the legal profession. This is an exciting day for the black student community at Bristol because of what lies on the horizon."
