LLB Law 

This undergraduate degree is considered an Applicable Law Degree by the Singapore Institute of Legal Education. The LLB degree will give you both the foundations of legal knowledge and an opportunity to explore the most challenging legal questions facing today’s global society. Choosing the LLB in Law at Bristol will enable you to progress onto the Bar Practice Course or prepare, in part, for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), helping you to develop core legal skills and understanding of the seven foundations of legal knowledge. 

LLM programmes

Our LLM programmes offer a rigorous, research-led curriculum with specialised options to build expertise and practical skills valued by employers. We offer a diverse range of LLM programmes and a number of PhD research themes. 

Entry requirements

LLB Law

Applicants with strong A Levels, International Baccalaureate (IB), or equivalent qualifications, including recognised foundation programmes such as our Foundation Pathways, may be considered for entry to the LLB Law programme. Holders of a completed Polytechnic Diploma may also be eligible for admission to our undergraduate LLB programmes. The Law National Aptitude Test (LNAT) is required.

LLM programmes

You will typically need an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) or an international equivalent in Law.

Accreditation

Overseas law graduates seeking to practise in Singapore must complete additional legal training, work experience, or examinations as prescribed by the Singapore Institute of Legal Education (SILE). Detailed requirements are available on the SILE website. The University of Bristol Law School has a thriving alumni community in Singapore. 

Pathways to practice

Follow these steps for legal qualification in Singapore:

  • Obtain a recognised law degree from an Overseas Scheduled University.
  • Undertake 6 months of Relevant Legal Training/Practice/Work.
  • Pass Part A Bar Exams.
  • Register with SILE as a Qualified Person.
