The University of Bristol’s Law School hosts a vibrant Indian community and a growing South Asian student population across its LLB, LLM, and research degree programmes.
LLB Law
This law degree is recognised by the Bar Council of India. The LLB degree will give you both the foundations of legal knowledge and an opportunity to explore the most challenging legal questions facing today’s global society. Choosing the LLB in Law at Bristol will enable you to progress onto the Bar Practice Course or prepare, in part, for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE), helping you to develop core legal skills and understanding of the seven foundations of legal knowledge.
Entry requirements
LLB Law
The Law National Aptitude test (LNAT) is required for entry to the LLB Law programme and must be taken during the same year students are applying.
We consider grades of 90% ISC, CBSE, Maharashtra or 80% West Bengal or 93% Other State boards to meet our requirements.
LLM programmes
Applicants to our Law Postgraduate Taught programmes can be considered with minimum grades of 55-60% from an accepted Indian university.
Accreditation
Our LLB Law degree is recognised by the Bar Council of India. The University of Bristol Law School has a thriving alumni community in India.
Pathways to practice
Follow these steps for legal qualification in India:
- Apply for registration to your respective State Bar Council after returning to India.
- State Bar Council will forward your application to the Bar Council of India.
- Sit for an exam on six subjects, which is conducted twice by the Bar Council of India.
- You are permitted to practice law in India on successfully qualifying for the exam.
