Challenge One: Street Law
In this challenge you will take on the guise of an investigative journalist filing a report on stop and search. You believe the black community is disproportionately targeted by police officers, but where's the evidence? You will be asked to read past news articles, review relevant data and write a newspaper article that argues for things to change, using evidence to back up your position. The challenge will be presented by a student from the Law School who will provide you with some background and a top tip!
- WatchWatch an introduction to the challenge from Aryan Mandal - a law student from the University of Bristol. In it he will explain why he decided to study law, what attracted him to human rights and provide an overview of what stop and search is.
- ReadRead the full brief. Make sure you understand what's being asked of you - and don't deviate from the information provided. The key thing to remember is that you will be judged on your ability to read, digest and effectively summarise what you have learnt.
