The Integrative Epidemiology Unit will again be leading a team at the Green Man festival, which is taking place 14-17 August near Crickhowell in South Wales.
Our stall will have the theme "How to be an epidemiologist".
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have heard the word ‘epidemiology’ – but do you know what epidemiologists do? Come to our stall to try out some epidemiology for yourself, learn about why epidemiologists are so important for understanding our health, and see what you look like as an epidemiologist.
You’ll have the opportunity to measure some data about yourself and add it (anonymised) to big graphs that we will be building up over the weekend. See if you can spot any patterns and possible links in the data. You can also propose your own research questions and we will test some of those at the festival.
You can learn how epidemiology has shaped our understanding of health, from mapping cholera in Victorian London to monitoring the spread of COVID-19. We’ll also share some of our research and give you an opportunity to get involved.
