Studying Religion and Theology at Bristol University has definitely had a lasting impact on me. I am currently a Document Project Coordinator for EDF Energy and the skills I gained whilst at university have continued to benefit me in my career. I also travelled Southeast Asia post-university, and I believe that my degree truly enriched my experience. It meant that I had an insight into different cultures and belief systems, which made it easier to connect with people and really appreciate the traditions I was encountering.
One of the most stand-out aspects of the degree for me, was the engaging teaching style and close-knit learning environment. The small classes and supportive lecturers created a real sense of community, where we were always encouraged to share ideas and generate meaningful discussion. I believe this has really helped me engage confidently and share ideas in my job roles post-university. I feel as though my degree has influenced me to think outside the box, which is always useful in a professional environment. The content I learnt will always be important to me. I believe that it has given me a strong appreciation for religious and cultural diversity, which has helped me form meaningful relationships and better understand the people I work with (or just people more generally!). As well as this, the presentations I took part in during my studies greatly improved my confidence and communication skills, which I now draw on when leading meetings or delivering presentations at work.
The work I produced whilst at university improved my critical thinking skills and refined my writing style, which has been invaluable in my career. I am very grateful for my time at Bristol and loved studying Religion and Theology.
