Virtual celebration

Information about July and August 2021 virtual celebration events, which will be held in addition to the usual in-person graduation ceremonies that are currently postponed.

Virtual celebrations

Virtual celebration events are not a replacement or a replica for your graduation ceremony, which you will attend in person and we hope will take place in Spring 2022, subject to COVID regulations. This will be dependent on how the pandemic evolves and we will keep all graduands updated.

Virtual celebration events are an additional way to celebrate this unique moment with final year students, reflect on your time at the University and in the city, and look to the future.

In July and August, we will be hosting six live faculty events to reflect on this unique year and your time with us. You can check which Faculty you are part of.

Each event will be hosted by Faculty staff member and will include an address from a member of the senior management of the University, a final year student and a guest speaker. More information will be sent closer to the time. The events will open at 9.45 am and close at 11.15 am.

These events are not a replacement for graduation and not all students will have had awards. Therefore, they will not include a roll call of names. However, we would like to include messages and pictures from the Class of 2021 and you can submit these here.

Graduations

We are committed that all of you will be invited back to attend your in-person graduation ceremony.

We are not currently able to confirm rescheduled dates because of the ongoing uncertainty on when mass gatherings will be allowed, but hope that ceremonies will take place in Spring 2022. We will keep you updated at the earliest opportunity to allow you to make plans and these will take place in 2022.

Please note that the only virtual graduation ceremony that will take place this summer is for the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses who need to graduate in order to be received into the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons to start practice as keyworkers.

Awards and certificates

Graduation is the ceremonial event that takes you from graduand (once your degree is awarded but you have not yet graduated) to graduate. Your date of award is not affected by the graduation postponements and you will receive your certificate before the ceremonies take place (subject to all tuition fees and bench fees being paid). You can find updates about certificates on our FAQ's page.
