The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Composites Science, Engineering and Manufacturing (CoSEM) joined with the ACCIS CDT and the Bristol Composites Institute to host the event on 13 April. This was the first time the Postgraduate Research and Training Showcase event was held online.
During the event, delegates were able to benefit from a range of excellent presentations from 24 PhD students from across the CDTs and the Bristol Composites Institute. An online display of approximately 35 posters and the opportunity to discuss posters and presentations followed.
Following the completion of formal conference proceedings in the morning, the CDT students took part in a series activities including 1-2-1 discussions with potential employers, and an industry-led discussion panel, comprising experts drawn from the Actuation Lab, Aerospace Technology Institute, BAE Systems, and RNLI.
CDT Deputy Director and Research Coordinator, Professor Ian Hamerton, said: "Despite the practical limitations imposed by the pandemic, we were delighted to be able to be able include presentations from researchers representing all the composites activities within the Bristol Composites Institute this year, and I hope that conference delegates enjoyed the breadth of topics covered. Once again, the standard of oral and poster presentations was exceptionally high and we are proud to be able to showcase the research talent from within the University.
If you missed the event, we invite you to review the presentations on our YouTube channel and we look forward to inviting you to Bristol next year."
Take a look at the presentation slides and view all the posters online. Videos of the presentations will be posted to the CDT’s YouTube channel later in the year.
